Tasks

Tasks are writing assignments that you create and assign to your students. Penmate supports two modes of task creation and a variety of task types aligned with Cambridge English exam formats.

Task Modes

Cambridge Mode

In Cambridge mode, Penmate generates the writing assignment for you. You select a CEFR level and a task type, and Penmate creates the task with appropriate instructions and word range — aligned with official Cambridge English exam formats.

Freestyle Mode

In Freestyle mode, you write the task instructions yourself. This gives you full control over the assignment content, allowing you to create custom tasks that aren’t necessarily tied to exam formats.

Workflow

1. Create a task — choose a mode, level, and type (or write your own instructions)
2. Assign it — send to entire classes or individual students, with a deadline
3. Students write and submit — they receive an email with a submission link
4. Review results — see scores and feedback for each student
