Work Groups
Work groups let you batch-assign a single task to a group of students with a shared deadline. This is the standard way to distribute writing assignments to your class.
How Work Groups Work
When you assign a task to a class or group of students, Penmate creates a work group — a collection of individual assignments all linked to the same task and deadline.
Each work group contains:
- One task (the writing assignment)
- One deadline (shared by all students in the group)
- Individual work items for each student (their personal submission)
Creating a Work Group
Work groups are created automatically when you assign a task:
- Open a task and click Assign
- Select the class(es) or individual students
- Set the deadline
- Penmate creates the work group and sends submission links to all students
Navigating Work Groups
From a work group view, you can:
- See all students in the group and their submission status
- Navigate between individual student submissions using previous/next arrows
- Track how many students have submitted out of the total
